January 21, 2025, A New Day in History!
Yes, I know, I can hardly believe it either! The south experienced a REAL snow day! I said for weeks, "we won't get real snow" "if it does snow, it won't be much and it won't stick" "we may just get ice." BOY am I glad I was wrong!!!
We live in a small older home in Daphne, AL and it seems that if the wind blows just right, we lose power. That coupled with the fact we have a small child, we knew we would rather play it safe and go somewhere we would have power no matter how bad the weather gets. My parents live on a gorgeous piece of property overlooking a private lake and pond. We love getting to come to town because it is a little slice of Heaven, they're an extra set of hands with our daughter (parents, you know what I mean), and of course, they have a fancy generator.
The snow started falling at 5:58AM and didn't slow down until about 3PM. There was quickly a blanket of snow covering the yard, steps, and even some of the porch. Our daughter, Amelia, had a blast figuring out how to walk in the snow and watching the dogs run and play in the snow. We stayed inside by the fire most of the day Tuesday, but Wednesday we ventured out to do a little modified sledding and snowman building! January 21, 2025 was definitely one we will remember for the rest of our lives!
